WHISTLER, BC – On Saturday December 3, Whistler Heli-Skiing takes flight for its 31st winter with incredible early season conditions and a new Whistler Heli-Skiing Après Lounge at the Bearfoot Bistro.
“With 432,000 acres of terrain and the opportunity to ski huge powder vertical on any given day, we are able to find great conditions for all skiers and riders,” says Mike Sadan, General Manager of Whistler Heli-Skiing. “That’s one of the reasons Whistler Heli-Skiing is such an incredible experience: there is a tremendous variety of terrain available from wide open glaciers to beautiful gladed tree runs. The beauty of heli-skiing is it offers something for everyone.”
Whistler Heli-Skiing will introduce a number of exciting changes this winter, beginning with the Bearfoot Bistro Après Heli Lounge. This year Whistler Heli-Skiing will host their daily après at one of the most elegant restaurants in Whistler, the Bearfoot Bistro. The Après Heli Lounge was built specifically to host guests of Whistler Heli-Skiing and is the ideal venue to relive an amazing day in the mountains. Guests will be joined by their guide, photographer and pilot to view their photos and videos from the day while enjoying a spread of gourmet après fare crafted by the Bearfoot Bistro’s world famous chef, Melissa Craig.
“We are pleased and honoured to host the guests of Whistler Heli-Skiing in our new Après Heli Lounge,” says André Saint-Jacques, founder of the Bearfoot Bistro. “We share a similar clientele with Whistler Heli-Skiing – people looking for exceptional experiences outside of the ordinary. Our goal is to create a unique après experience that is just as extraordinary as a day of heli-skiing in the mountains.”
For those guests looking to fine tune their skills before their big day, Whistler Heli-Skiing will offer a Learn to Heli-Ski program at Whistler Blackcomb this winter. Full day and half day lessons will be available with a private Whistler Blackcomb Snow School instructor. The program provides Whistler Heli-Skiing guests the opportunity to receive specific one on one coaching and is the perfect way to prepare for a full day of heli-skiing. Guests also looking to take advantage of Whistler Heli-Skiing’s fantastic rental equipment options can visit the Whistler Heli-Skiing Powder Hut Ski and Snowboard Rental Shop. Located at the Whistler Golf Course Driving Range, the Powder Hut has all the ideal equipment for skiing and riding in powder conditions and will be open daily between 4pm-7:30pm.
Whistler Heli-Skiing offers a variety of packages to skiers and riders from intermediate to expert ability level and this winter has committed to a price freeze for the 2011.2012 season. Grouped with people of similar ability level and with a certified heli-ski guide, guests can experience the thrill of flying in a helicopter and the exhilaration of skiing or riding untracked powder through to April 22, 2012.
