Launch of a new membership card for HitchWhistler provides safer verified ridesharing between Whistler and Vancouver.
With the promise of another La Niña season, thousands of skiers and snowboarders are waving the summer goodbye and eagerly looking forward to another white winter. HitchWhistler, the dedicated rideshare Web site between Whistler and Vancouver, is hoping to give shredders another reason to smile this year by providing their valued members with a Seasonal Membership Card loaded with awesome discounts and VIP privileges from local shops, bars & clubs such as 50% off rentals from Vancouver’s The BoardRoom, and 25% off all food at Longhorn in Whistler.
Launching in time for the upcoming season, the card offers users two bonuses, on top of the rideshare service which will remain completely free:
1) Hitchers and Drivers who sign up can gain a verified status on the site through a unique code sent to their postal address.
2) Discounts and special offers from various local businesses in Whistler and Vancouver will be available upon presentation of the card.
The card is on sale online for $20 and students can get the card for only $12!
HitchWhistler has also partnered up with Endeavor to offer cardholders the opportunity to win Endeavor gear throughout the season as well as free beer from bar vouchers from Longhorn and Garfinkels.
Launched last year, HitchWhistler already boasts over 1,600 registered members. Drivers and Hitchers post trips or connect with others heading up to the mountain. Gas costs get shared, carbon footprints lowered and everyone’s green karma gets topped up!
“We started HitchWhistler last season and were amazed at how quickly it has grown! We wanted to find a way to increase safety on the site as well as offer our users additional benefits from local businesses. A Seasonal Membership Card seemed to be the ideal solution,” says site founder Flo Devellennes. “As we run the site in our spare time, the price of the card will help to cover our operational costs and allow us to continue expanding and improving the service. I guess, in a way, you can say by that buying our Membership Card you will be helping HitchWhistler to stay alive!”
It doesn’t end there; a mobile app is now available to download for free and future plans include a similar Membership system for the sister site HitchRockies, along with new sites for Eastern Canada and beyond. Download on iTunes now.
