Yes, we’re still open!  Despite the spring weather, we’re holding strong and remain one of a few ski resorts in Southern Ontario still open. Weather permitting, we still hope to keep skiing and snowboarding alive at Blue Mountain through next weekend (March 24/25) and will make every effort to stay open into late March if possible.

How have we done it? Blue Mountain has Canada’s largest snowmaking system and our work in January/February has provided us with some great spring skiing conditions over the past two weeks.  We also have amazing on and off hill activities and have a wide selection of amenities that our guests can enjoy.

Additionally, we’re doing everything we can to host our final winter event of the year – The Canadian Shield and Final 4 Showdown running March 22-25 (weather permitting).  Please find more details about this event below.

Blue Mountain Says Farewell to Winter 2011/2012 with The Canadian Shield Ski and Snowboard Tour Finale
BLUE MOUNTAINS, ON – March 19, 2012 – The Canadian Shield Ski and Snowboard Tour makes its first stop at Blue Mountain March 22-24 to cap off a great season of on-hill winter events. The Canadian Shield is Canada’s premier slopestyle series with four signature events across Canada. The event originated at Blue Mountain Resort as the You Look Good Slopestyle Tour, and has since changed its name, introduced a new format and expanded throughout the country. This will be the Tour’s finale event of the year, as it crowns Tour Champions right here at the Blue Mountain Badlands Terrain Park.

The Canadian Shield Finale is part of an action packed weekend at Blue that includes the SBC Media Showcase at 7:30pm on Friday, March 23, Coors Light Cold Party on Saturday, March 24, and the second annual Final 4 Showdown on Sunday, March 25 in the Badlands Terrain Park.

SBC Media Showcase
The SBC Media Showcase, presented by Ultimate Ski Vacations, Sun Peaks Resort and Delta Sun Peaks Hotel will showcase 2-4 minute films shot at Blue Mountain and surrounding areas, as well as local photographs. The winner of the showcase will take home a trip to Sun Peaks Resort.

Final 4 Showdown
The Final 4 Showdown is judged on pure CREATIVITY and ANIMATION! Teams are made up of 4 participants (ski or snowboard) costumes are mandatory. Each team gets 2 laps through the park and must ’animate’ their costumes, and pick the most creative line in hopes of winning $500.
